The English invasion continues, with NewsDay reporting that Mashonaland Eagles having secured the services of Nottinghamshire fast bowler Charlie Shreck and Somerset's Nick Compton for the incoming season. Eagles CEO Hugo Ribatika confirmed the signings:

"We had some challenges last season with our opening batsmen so we are consolidating that area. We also saw the need to beef up our bowling and we think Shreck can do us a wonderful job. Those additions could put us in a steady position."

While neither player has yet featured in international cricket, Compton made it as far as England 'A' in 2006/07. and both men are well-established on the county circuit. Shreck has also played first-class cricket in New Zealand for Wellington.
